It was great to present at my third Barwon Principal Forum, building on our work over the last 2 years & on the work with 200 Barwon teachers/middle leaders on Monday. Today was all about impactful, sustainable literacy leadership. We have some truly excellent Victorian Department of Education leaders!

It’s been a pleasure to do the Victorian Department of Education Principal Forum rounds this term. The last stop was Ballarat today. We unpacked the Reading Position Statement, VC English 2.0 and VTLM2.0 and the implications for literacy leadership across F-10. Leaders are excited and ready for 2025. 👏🏻

I’m often gobsmacked by how little reading happens in English, especially secondary English. Texts are the curriculum. Read, read, read. It’s very hard to know how much of the data is a quantity issue and how much is a quality issue. Up the volume and complexity, then let’s see.
