First #PhD paper out now, w/Neeltje Boogert Laura Kelley! I tested whether wild herring gulls approach objects in their environment w/o food associated (termed neophilia). Contrary to expectations, we found most gulls were reluctant to approach objects. doi.org/10.1111/jav.03…

Today we ran 44 miles on the SW coast path from the lizard to lands end. Brutal terrain and weather - we’re raising money for the ME Association, as 3 years ago I was struggling with ME/CFS. And today I did this, recovery is possible ❤️ justgiving.com/fundraising/Em… link to donate! :)

Here to stand up for the gulls st the meeting. This is a waste management issue not the fault of birds whose habitat we've decimated. 90% of herring gull population gone, 29%-33% reduction in breeding pairs. Stop blaming nature for our bad behaviour.

The day of days? 1. Blue Fin Tuna smashing bait 2. Two fin whales feeding. #Falmouth was alive today, and it was so nice to see BFT everywhere, after spending the past three months working on BFT, very nice not just to be talking about them in emails.

Great to be joining Isles of Scilly IFCA Cornwall IFCA Devon & Severn IFCA workshop on SW UK crawfish fishery conservation today. Lots of exciting exchange of knowledge & ideas between researchers, managers, regulators and fishers to try and ensure recent recruitment boom is maintained. 🦞🛥️🪝

The biggest and wildest I’ve ever seen the sea in my home town, high tides, huge swell and Easter holidays. Love a huge storm (although I’m a bit fed up of the rain!) #storm #cornwall #porthleven
