Five years ago, I was lucky enough to be involved in the reintroduction of White Beak-sedge to Greater Manchester after not being seen in the area for 200 years. From three small clumps, there are now hundreds of thousands of plants! Wowza. 😍🌱

Brilliant beaver wetlands in Belgium. They are everywhere in the wet meadow bottoms of damp land. Farming continues around them without significant issue just as it will one day again in Britain. Life of all other sorts is reignited by them to share their world.

Did you know Common Ragwort is one of our most important wildflowers in Britain?! It’s used as a foodplant by >130 insects & ranked 7th most important resident wild plant for pollinators here. Today I’ve been collected seed for my own garden - so excited to see what turns up!😍

One day all our national parks should look like this. The challenge to come will be controlling the trees to ensure diversity. Not having no trees at all because of sheep or deer. Both scenarios are absurd legacies and should be dismissed. Any new beginning involves change.

Have you seen a Holly Blue this year? While it can be tricky to spot the butterflies as they flutter high around bushes and trees, early September is the perfect time to find the superbly camouflaged caterpillars on buds of Ivy. 📷🦋: Samantha Batty 📷🐛: Peter Eeles

I set up a little bird bath today, next to the pond in my new garden. Eating my supper outside, I heard a splashing! ❤️❤️❤️

Right place, right time! I just happened to be standing next to this Field Maple when one of the leafcutter bees nesting in our bee hotel flew in, and cut a piece of leaf right in front of my eyes. You can see from this short video, how quickly and deftly they cut the leaves …

Erm… happy frogspawn day to me! 🙈 so that’s 10 days earlier than last year and 19 days earlier than when they first spawned in my pond, in 2021. Yikes 🐸 #ClimateCrisis

An impressive campaign. Go Hannah! It took the RSPB’s female founders 30 years to get the Plumage Act made law, stamping out the vile trade in bird skins & feathers. The usual weasley Gnmt excuses.
