Just in: Edmonton is not renewing funding for Bissell Centre & Boyle Street day shelter services. Impacts could be significant. More to come… #yeg #yegcc edmontonjournal.com/news/local-new…

Wow I have never seen a University of Alberta Students' Union organized protest with such a low turnout. Last year’s “halt the hike” protest was really well attended. I’m confused how this happened

Today, #UAlberta Board of Governors increased tuition for the 5th year in a row. Unlike last year, BoG banned people from taking photos during the meeting - presumably because board members don't want the public to see them increasing costs on students #abpse

The Gateway spoke to political science professor Lisa Young about the possible impacts of Bill 18. The Gateway also spoke to Andrea Dekeseredy, a U of A PhD student, who says the bill is "nonsensical, because it's not true." buff.ly/3JlSSKl

If you’re a U of A student with an interest in the local arts community, please don’t hesitate to apply! This is such a great opportunity, especially as we expand our operations!

In January, the CFB opened the community pantry to address increased demand for their services. Currently, the community pantry is struggling to remain stocked, and is almost completely empty some days. buff.ly/3wtlXAJ

On May 9, a Palestine solidarity encampment was set-up on the Main Quad at the University of Alberta. Protestors plan to continue the encampment until their demands for the U of A are addressed. buff.ly/3UQGHMj

I’m in the Fort McMurray area with Nathan Gross covering a 1,500 hectare wildfire that’s about 16K away. The region has been under an evacuation alert since last night. Crews are working on a containment line on the east side of the fire to guard the city.

On May 11 at 12:00 p.m., a March for Palestine ended at the University of Alberta Main Quad. Protestors began an indefinite sit-in on the quad, and a speaker called for the resignation of President and Vice-chancellor Bill Flanagan. buff.ly/4dDoSaG

Chatting with residents in Jasper over the phone…they say ashes are falling from the sky. Gas stations are backed up, many voluntarily leaving now. Main fire at transfer station near Snaring has apparently jumped highway, Only safe direction out of town is further west on Hwy
