Last weekend EMHS faculty, staff, and students spent a very rainy day supporting FSU EM and Police during the home football game. Our efforts helped achieve comprehensive situational awareness, which ultimately contributes to a safer environment for all in attendance. Go Noles!

FL-UAS1 achieved 2 major milestones during Milton response. First, we coordinated one of the largest deployments of UAS crews in the history of Florida. Second, FSU EMHS conducted the first post-disaster LiDAR recon missions for Lee County EM on Old Hickory Island and Sanibel.

The EMHS UAS Team recently flew LiDAR mapping missions on Amelia Island for Nassau County Emergency Management.The highly detailed digital data that was captured will help Nassau County government better understand the impacts of hurricane Milton on their coastline.

A big thank you to the State Emergency Operations Center! Yesterday the SEOC hosted a tour for students in PAD 4391/5397 Foundations of EM, allowing them to learn about the many different aspects of a successful EOC. This was a great opportunity for learning beyond the classroom!

The Emergency Management and Homeland Security Program is excited to host a virtual discussion with Larry Prokop! Larry has a wealth of knowledge to share, drawing on his background with the FBI as a Supervisory Intelligence Analyst (Instructor).

EMHS Alum Ivy A. Baker stumbled into the field of EM while working towards her MPA. During her time with EMHS, she completed an internship with FDEM, solidifying her career path. What began as a chance became a calling, shaping both her career and commitment to serving others.

In Fall '24 EMHS offered a new grad course, Research in EM: Chinese Influence in Latin Am. & the Caribbean. Students explored strategic issues related to space control and telecommunication infrastructure. Sign up for this unique course in Spring with a new topic: PAD 5935 - 17.
