Our new paper is the fruit of integrating research into teaching - something that both students and teachers love - I highly recommend it! Tree pathogenic Pseudomonas (and their phages) were isolated and sequenced during a MSc course. doi.org/10.1016/j.meeg… 1/2

There is much more to pure bacterial isolates than bacteria :) The intra-species warfare implications are thought provoking, and the wheat phyllosphere is the battleground. This is the latest MATRIX paper. Way to go Peter!! Department of Plant & Environmental Sciences Phage Directory Novo Nordisk Foundation Dansk Forskning

"Dude, what's in your SynCom?" microbiologycommunity.nature.com/posts/dude-wha… The Matrix and EMG groups own Peter Erdmann Dougherty posted this blog on thoughts from our new paper on active prophages and intraspecies warfare in the wheat phyllosphere MATRIX Department of Plant & Environmental Sciences

Thanks for an awesome meeting everyone. As demonstrated in the last picture-frame, its coming together, with all amazing and strange parts intertwining.

📢 Calling all genomicists and bioinformaticians! We need a PostDoc to explore microbial diversity in wheat at the University of Copenhagen🌱. Work with our extensive ready datasets (shotgun & amplicon) alongside a fantastic, international team! DM Environmental Microbial Genomics PLEN-KU or Simon Rasmussen !

Meet phages Hallingskeid, Kaldavass, Rembedalsseter, et. al. in our new pre-print out today! We isolated eight phages against bacterial hosts from the wheat phyllosphere and found some interesting phage biology along the way. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Are there virulent phages hiding in your bacterial culture? Here we find hundreds of virulent phage genomes in bacterial genome assemblies. Bioinformatic and experimental evidence indicate these are not contaminations, but represent persistent infections. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Another unexpected result coming from Peter Dougherty's 2nd paper of his PhD. About phages targeting key wheat phyllosphere bacterial members. With surprising genetics...
