And it was this that got me to realize why it's no longer safe for anyone to be here. The simple fact is that none of us have the energy to evaluate every single account that comes our way. Most of us do our best, but we also take for granted that there is SOME moderation.

So we depend on it to help us. Otherwise we'd be spending hours evaluating every single person whose content we share. Moderation eases our concerns. But Twitter has no moderation. Neo-Nazi accounts are able to grow exponentially. And they can hide by using false identities.

We will never be able to keep up in such an environment. Already, these accounts are creating more accounts, and diversifying their networks. Soon it will be almost impossible to keep track of because the scale will rise beyond what we're capable of tracking.

Many people at this point believe that they can't be fooled into buying into extremism or Neo-Nazi beliefs so the issue is more about others. No. It is about you. About me. All of us. Every single one of us is vulnerable to it.

Anyone can buy into dangerous ideas, and it's particularly true when the media we consume is so utterly divorced from reality that we can no longer distinguish what is real and what isn't. Twitter is becoming more and more like that.

And since a lot of people here use the site quite addictively, the problem will be exacerbated. Let me repeat: no one is invulnerable to extremism. And the more you surround yourself with it the more vulnerable you are. And this place is going to keep getting worse.

Besides all that, you have a responsibility to your mental health. Social media is already horrible in this regard, but it gets much worse on platforms filled with hate, harassment, and disinformation. And bad mental health, btw, also increases your vulnerability to extremism.

And by the way: media companies, leaders, pundits, politicians, and anyone in the public eye. You DEFINITELY should not be here. You are contributing to the problem. First, people stick to this place because you are here. They go where you are.

This is part of why Twitter has been read-only for me for the past 3 months. I try my best not to spread bad information or boost bad people, and this site no longer makes that a reasonable standard to maintain.

I really hope PocketGuard is suffering from a ton of New Years activity because if it's always this slow that's unusable. I change one transaction and it takes upwards of 30 seconds to save.

Across two computers and 3 browsers, PocketGuard won't load a login page. I paid $75 for this service, and I can't even ask for support because I can't log in!

Trying to stay off this site for the day and I recommend the same for anyone with mental health concerns. And I wish the worst on those making good reporting practices a sinister conspiracy.
