We are thrilled to introduce our Presenters for the 2024 EMW Workshop! @Ulaserdogdu is a PhD student at Northwestern developing a new framework for negative case selection, helping researchers identify multiple necessary conditions underlying outcomes of interest.

A big welcome to our 2024 EMW Workshop Mentors! Professor Agustina Giraudy is a Latin Americanist at American University researching subnational regimes, politics, public goods provision and access, and institutional integrity.

Our second presenter for the 2024 EMW Workshop is Shagun Gupta, a PhD candidate at American University exploring how researchers can utilize conversational clarifications and effective follow-ups during interviews to help interview respondents and improve the data.

Welcome, Michelle Jurkovich, another inspiring mentor for the 2024 EMW Workshop! Professor Jurkovich is an Associate Professor at UMass Boston whose research focuses on international food security, ethics and aspiration, human rights, and description in the social sciences.

Our 3rd presenter for the 2024 EMW Workshop is Irene Morse, a PhD candidate at University of Michigan exploring how to improve interpretive processes in computational text analysis through qualitative techniques like discourse analysis, thematic coding, and qualitative content analysis.

Welcome, Erik Bleich, a Professor at Middlebury College researching European and North American responses to diversity through the media, policymaking, public attitudes, social movements, and legal decisions, and another of our excellent mentors for the 2024 EMW Workshop!

Our 4th presenter for the 2024 EMW Workshop is Salih Noor an Assistant Professor at The University of Chicago exploring the foundations of abductive analysis in qualitative multi-method research and formalizing abductive strategies for hypothesis development, testing, & data analysis.

Welcome, @LaurenMMacLean2, one of our excellent mentors for the 2024 EMW Workshop! Professor MacLean is the Chair of Political Science at IU Bloomington researching the political economy of public service provision, democratic citizenship, and climate justice in Africa.

Our 5th presenter for the 2024 EMW Workshop is Eun-A Park(박은아), a graduate student at UC Riverside exploring how to combine elements of experimental design and in-depth interviews to explore the causal narratives and meaning construction between different participant groups.

We are pleased to welcome @ProfLupton as another mentor for our 2024 EMW Workshop! Professor Lupton researches international security, reputations and coercion, civil-military relations, foreign policy analysis, and experimental and multi-methods methods at Colgate University

Our final presenter for the 2024 EMW Workshop is Ozlem Tuncel, a PhD candidate at Georgia State University researching the rarity of discussions around sampling decisions and developing a methodology for systematic recruitment and sampling for elite interviews.
