I can see why people might think this but there really isn’t much evidence to support this hypothesis. My colleagues have looked at the data and there is no relationship between local waiting lists and benefit claims.

Promise not to raise taxes on working people is, and always was, meaningless. Who else can pay tax? Employer NI paid by working people in lower wages or fewer jobs. Scale of required tax rises could make it v hard to avoid raising VAT, NI or income tax. thetimes.com/article/eb5044…
