Another beautiful day in Sedona, not a cloud in the sky! Lots going on around the course today: more fairway/approach slicing, walk mowed new bent tees and greens, hollowtined old tees, and topdressed. Busy day for Barley and the crew🐾

Finally got started slicing and topdressing fairways today with our shiny new Kubota L6060 and Toro 687 slicer and MH400. Props to Kubota for making their tractors big enough for Barley to ride shotgun and keep me company all day Dogs Of Turf

This morning, I stopped to check in with one of the guys on the crew. I asked if he was doing okay like I always do and he said “How are YOU doing? You always check on us but I don’t think anyone ever asks if you’re doing okay”. Really meant a lot to me, so thankful for my crew!

The course conditions seen during televised golf can leave golfers with some pretty grand ideas for their home courses. It's important to remember that the conditions we see on TV require more than meets the eye, and more than most budgets have to give 👇

Anywhere there’s grass…and shade. It’s getting hot here in Sedona and Barley always lays under my tailgate so I figured what better place for a Dogs Of Turf sticker🐾

Friday spray day with my favorite spray partner! Barley usually hangs out at the shop or explores the native when I spray but today he wanted to ride along for a little bit while I sprayed growth regulator on the roughs. He’s such a good boy🥰 Dogs Of Turf

We don’t get to walk mow much with our small crew but we got the mowers out on the greens with medium brushes today. We’ve got quite a few guys training on walk mowing so I mowed a few holes to keep the crew ahead of play. Pretty proud of my lines on #8 so I had to post a pic🙃

Barley loves the fescue behind 4 green…the members do not😂Big day at Seven Canyons, the first turf intern in club history started today and we’re really excited to have him here from Michigan State. It’s going to be a great summer at 7C!

The course conditions we enjoy today depend on highly specialized (and very expensive) equipment. Learn more about the amazing machines that make modern maintenance possible 👇

Anyone else’s Dogs Of Turf sit back and enjoy the view at the course? Barley certainly enjoyed the views off the backside of 12 green this beautiful Sunday morning while I hand watered. We hit the low 80’s last week and the poa is already requiring a good bit of extra water💧

During grow in back in September, the javelina absolutely annihilated these two newly germinated bent grass tees. After 7 months, a little bit of sod, a lot of seed and even more fertilizer, they’re looking (and playing) so much better🤘🏼

Dog sitting for a member this week means I’ve got a Dogs Of Turf trainee! Wasko helped me cut cups this morning and was such a good boy (don’t tell Barley, he might get a little jealous)

Speaking with Shane Rice on a great great topic and something I’ve never thought about. For my turf friends who have held the “director of agronomy” title and also “golf course superintendent” title. What were some of the biggest differences between the two positions?
