The science here is awesome. The other awesome part? I'm the only guy on this paper. 👏👏 to @DocElovitz for running a truly bad-ass group of female scientists. We need more of this.

With the latest CDC guidance, you better believe our lives will be terribly disrupted. Prepare for school and work absences and closures, for child care turbulence, for cancelled plans--along with poor health for many. Less prevention does not translate into less disruption.

After 2.5 yrs of skating it, COVID hit out house last week. Thankfully, extremely mild cases. I am on my 8th day of testing +. I was largely asymptomatic (more on that...). This experience has only solidified my belief that we need more calls for strong, public mitigations. 1/

Cool paper! However how is underlying metabolomic dataset not available? @Microbiome clearly states in its policies "Data availability statements should include information on where data supporting the results reported in the article can be found". jacquesravel Ian Lidbury

Yesterday, I took mifepristone and today I will take misprostol for a missed abortion for a very wanted and very planned pregnancy. The combination has about an 85% success rate and will hopefully allow me to avoid an invasive procedure. I am really sad, and I am feeling the loss

Excited to share our latest work led by Joshua Soto Ocaña & Elliot Friedman in mBio today! Together with Gary Wu's team, we suggest metals may be an important nutritional factor shaping early life microbial ecology. journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128/mb…

This human study explores the potential role of calprotectin (babies have a ton!) and metal limitation in the early life and also shows the impact feeding method has on metal levels in the infant gut. We show that formula fed babies harbor much higher levels of metals in stool.
