Great Britain's Ellie Downie has retired from gymnastics because her mental health 'was taking a beating'. In 2020, Downie and her sister spoke out about abusive behaviour in British Gymnastics.

Ellie says even at age 10, she had her bag searched for food at a training camp.

Ellie Downe says speaking out against British gymnastics was 'bittersweet' because she felt like she was not selected at trials before they'd even happened.

Here’s the explosive email from a senior coach at British Gymnastics after the recent World Championships that so offended Ellie Downie.

Sent to members of Team GB and their coaches, it refers to “naysayers” and “non-believers” and says “success is the best revenge”
