In Plain Sight is an exhibition that started in the historical archives. It began as a series of stories hidden in medical records, coroners’ reports, witness statements, jury verdicts, newspaper clippings and incriminating letters from lovers and abortion providers. 🧵

#OTD 1922, Michael Collins was laid to rest in #GlasnevinCemetery. His funeral was the largest in the history of the cemetery. Today, 102 years later, his grave remains the most visited in the cemetery, with flowers and other tributes being left at his graveside each day.

It's been eleven years since Seamus Heaney's death and that's a good enough reason for me to recount how I heard the news. I was walking past a taxi rank in Dublin and the cab drivers were out of their cabs talking about him. I can't imagine a better tribute to a poet.

The fabulous editors and contributors are proofing this wonderful collection this week. I'm so looking forward to it being out in the world for anyone interested in family history. One of the culminations of the important @InheritingtheFamily project.

I strongly recommend this exhibition - I admit that some aspects of Irish history put my blood pressure up, but it's also heartening to see how much progress Ireland has made.

Did it even happen if you didn't take a photo of it?! Proofs are checked & returned, and Doing Working-Class History is due to be published in November. It's been a bit of a long road to this point, but always brilliant to work with the fantastic Oliver Betts & Dr Laura Christine Price!

Official launch of the Atlas of the Irish Civil at National Library of Ireland by Catriona Crowe. Publications like these don't happen by accident. Multi-disciplinary approach to history and sound methodology is the key to bridge the gap between solid academic work and accessibility for all.
