Who says boating in December is a bad idea? It was great to get out on the water to see the seagrass bed on a beautiful day. Virginia Coast Reserve LTER
Excited to start a new project on larval settlement in the seagrass bed at the Virginia Coast Reserve LTER. The seagrass bed along the Virginia coast looks very different at low tide.
Field season weeks 1 and 2 are in the books! Lots of learning, adjusting, planning, and execution to set up a new hydrodynamic study site in the South Bay seagrass meadow. Seeds were plentiful in core samples. Virginia Coast Reserve LTER
Happy (belated) #WorldOceansDay! Always a treat to see some of its beautiful creatures like this one in the coastal bays of the Virginia Coast Reserve LTER.
Big congratulations to lab member Kayleigh Granville. Virginia Sea Grant has selected her for a 2021 – 2023 Graduate Research Fellowship to work on air-water greenhouse gas exchange over #seagrass meadows at our Virginia Coast Reserve LTER site. Virginia Coast Reserve LTER, US LTER, UVa EnviSci
Alas, no photo caught how Virginia Coast Reserve LTER students perked up for Taylor Walker’s talk about changing enviro conditions at range edges leading to skinny clams and hungry migratory spp. Exciting collaboration between Emily Rivest & Karpanty (Mikayla Call) labs leveraging US LTER data.
