Was on Rita Cosby & John Catsimatidis talking about congestion at Newark Airport. Standards for being an Air Traffic Controller are rigorous. Last year, FAA filled all 1,800 slots at their training academy and ended the year with only 36 net new controllers.

While flying is safe, travelers deserve better at Newark. Controller shortages, outdated equipment, old facilities, need to be addressed. And, add stronger capacity controls so there aren't more flights scheduled than the airport can handle. See my oped @newsweek
