🚨🚨🚨BREAKING Lagos socialite Abu Abel (real name: Olaseni Johnson Olayinika) has been arrested today, July 27, 2025, over an alleged land fraud involving ₦447 million. This is why 🧵

Abu Abel was arrested by the Force CID, Alagbon, led by CSP Taiwo Oyewole on the orders of AIG Margaret Ochalla. He had been evading arrest for weeks and was found hiding in Victoria Island.

The complaint was filed by Doyin Investment Group, which alleges Abu Abel sold them three plots on Augustina Orji Street in Oke‑Arin Village (Eti‑Osa, Lagos) for ₦447M, claiming ownership in 2023.

After payment, the firm discovered the land was already encumbered by a third‑party claim. Abu Abel admitted knowledge, refunded ₦230M, but defaulted on the remaining ₦217M.

In January 2024 he signed a written undertaking to refund or forfeit his Lekki property if he failed to pay. He later filed a human rights suit, which police say was meant to derail investigations.

Investigators also believe he may have ties to a secret cult group linked to fraud, land grabbing, and criminal intimidation across Lagos and Ogun States.

At the time of his arrest, officials seized receipts, the deed of assignment, undertakings, correspondence, and other incriminating documents.

Abu Abel will soon be arraigned on charges including obtaining money under false pretence, criminal breach of trust, and conspiracy to defraud under EFCC Act 2006 and Criminal Code.
