Good stuff. As Peter Vermigli well noted; “Grace does not wait for man's consent; it invades, liberates, and transforms, because it flows from the eternal counsel of God.” Your faith is a consequence of God’s grace not the cause.

“You are a Christian because you were born in a Christian home”. Not always true, but this is not necessarily something to always refute because in God’s sovereignty, godly homes are one of the means through which God preserves the elect. So it is fine if that applies to you.

This applies to anyone who thinks they need to sort themselves out before returning to God especially in moments of sin. The grace you need to overcome that situation is supplied in the place of fervent communion, looking to yourself for strength only worsens your position.

When I reflect on my salvation, I am thankful God did not leave it up to me or to chance. I am thankful Christ interrupted my life sovereignly and caused me to follow Him. If it was up to me, I still would have chosen this world over God. Thank you Jesus. Your name be praised.

Romans 9 is quite humbling. I don’t think many people understand just how great God is. All things were made for His pleasure.

Yeah and it is true, a good number of the Calvin accounts here write utter nonsense. They misrepresent the already controversial man and do a terrible job at articulating the doctrines he upheld.

I’m overly persuaded that anyone who meditates on the scriptures often will end up with an incredibly high view of the sovereignty of God. Nothing escapes His power or permission. God has already decreed the end of times even before they occur. His ways are past finding out.
