Really special to catch the choral evensong for Thanksgiving Eve at NYC’s St Thomas’ Church on BBC Radio 3 Some amazing music and readings. Conscious that family and friends in US are winding down at this point, sending love 🍁 🌽 ⛪️

This handsome Grade II listed Methodist Church opened in 1904 on the Cowley Road. Today amongst other things it holds Oxford’s Baby Bank, providing crucial supplies to families. One of countless special roles that places of worship play at the heart of communities The Methodist Church

December 7th is the feast day of St. Ambrose, patron saint of Beekeeping an candle makers. The Latin phrase for “honey” is “Ambrosia” or the food of the gods, thus the origin of St. Ambrose’s name. christianapostles.com/st-ambrose/

Today's the feast of St Ambrose, 4th Century Bishop of Milan and one of the Four Latin Doctors. Very popular in medieval Norfolk, his figure survives on no fewer than sixteen screens or pulpits, including here at East Ruston, a Churches Conservation Trust church: norfolkchurches.co.uk/eastruston/eas… 1/3

Gorgeous to hear the choristers of New College Choir sing Benjamin Britten’s Ceremony of Carols in the cosy pews of St Nicholas Church, Islip. Mulled cider at the interval, too.

What an incredible year of celebration as The National Lottery Heritage Fund marked 30 years of the #NationalLottery. Since 1994, we have invested £1bn into places of worship. I am delighted to end 2024 with an announcement of £1.25m for these historic buildings and communities that care for them.
