Enjoyed a stunning view this morning at the top of the sacred Jebel Barkal Mountain, one of the many cultural treasures I have been honored to visit in Sudan. I also had the chance to visit the archeological sites at Al-Kuru.

Trouble is brewing in #Ethiopia, and the latest red flags - the 4/27 killing of the head of the ruling party's Amhara branch & the govt's launch of "decisive measures" against "extremist forces" - seem largely overlooked/drowned out by the crisis unfolding next door in Sudan.

The civil war in Sudan is becoming a bloody stalemate. To limit the humanitarian catastrophe we must end the fighting. International actors need to make difficult choices, tip the balance of power against the RSF, and thereafter hold the SAF to its promise to hand over power.
