We kicked off with FameLab Switzerland Basel edition yesterday. I had an amazing time hosting and hearing some very creative 3-min talks. Thank you Science Slam Club Basel for this opportunity 😁
Many thanks to The Experimentalist and Eisha Mhatre offer a chance to express my views on this interesting topic!
🙌🏼 Another edition of FameLab Switzerland! After moderating the Basel edition Science Slam Club Basel, excited to be a jury at Zürich edition Life Science Zurich
CAREER UPDATE: The Microbial Ecosystems Laboratory will be active starting Jan 2025 at Biodesign Institute at Arizona State University and ASU School of Molecular Sciences, where I will begin as an assistant professor. We’ll explore how interactions at the microscale influence global functions of microbial communities.
Fame Lab offers such a creative platform for scientists to put out their research stories. Glad to be a jury on this one- thanks Silvie Life Science Zurich. And all the best to the FameLab Switzerland finalists!
I continue to be somewhat disappointed by Oxford Nanopore. Is this normal? New kit, fresh supplies, pretty clean samples but portion of good pores goes down rapidly. Is this normal?!

I think that microbes experience nutrient limitation in a continuous way, but experiments aren't usually designed to capture that. Thoughts (and massive concept map) from Michael Manhart and I in the Microbial Systems and Synthetic Biology themed issue: sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
A small memory from 2016 of my first research group in Jena, a drawing by Manasa Bharathwaj (if I correctly remember) - do you regonize yourselves, Anna Dragos, Eisha Mhatre, Ramses Gallegos, Marivic Martin-Pohle, PhD, Heiko T. Kiesewalter, Theresa Jautzus?
