Something off with this Fairer Ed group. It has a real air of meanness, cruelty & ‘kick the kid when they’re down’ vibe. They seem to be ableist, classist & selfish. Suspensions can harm - why wouldn’t you want different, better or IDK “actually fairer” for at risk kids🤷‍♀️

Yet again, the ableist agenda of getting disabled kids out of general education and into segregated settings - in violation of their human rights - instead of fighting alongside disabled people, their families and allies for reform and resourcing to ensure inclusive education

And then there was the dog-whistling to fears and prejudice, because what better way to attack a reform aiming to address long-standing discriminatory and disproportionate exclusion of students with disability and First Nations students, than to scaremonger to "other parents"

Unionist argues that NSW Teacher Feds has had "material wins for students with disability or around social inclusion". Yes, material wins for more jobs and more union members within SSPs, thus perpetuating a system of social exclusion with poorer outcomes, not social inclusion.

Schools need to use these slides for PD before they decide to exclude or cause student failure because of lack of success strategies.
