I love hearing how teachers are responding to Sold a Story. This one is from teacher Ashton Venters.

I work with Planet Word Museum on a speaker series. We created a video to share the story of what we've done over the past year. More to come in 2025... youtube.com/watch?v=uDKYfe…

What a big day for the La Trobe University #SOLARLab team with Emily Hanford receiving an Honorary Doctorate in acknowledgement of her enormous contribution to public and academic discourse on reading instruction. With yours truly, Tanya Anne Serry PhD & Prof Joanna Barbousas.

New event Planet Word Museum in June. This time, we have James Kim coming to talk about the landmark Reading for Understanding initiative and how to promote comprehension. Tickets available now. Would love to see you there! planetwordmuseum.org/events/eyes-on…

Great to see that Planet Word Museum is hosting Dr. Jimmy Kim, who has done amazing work on how building knowledge can promote reading comprehension! Should be a terrific event--at a terrific museum.

Did you know the federal govt spent $120 million to study reading comprehension - and learned a lot! On June 28, one of the researchers will be coming to Planet Word Museum to discuss what it takes to help kids understand what they read. features.apmreports.org/sold-a-story/p…

Zach Groshell Like many, I first learned about SOR about 4 years ago (cue Emily Hanford 😊). I distinctly remember thinking: Wouldn’t it be great if there was a “Science of _____”? So I set out searching and discovered SOL. I’m still learning…but it’s already changed me as a teacher (20+ yrs in!)

Excellent summary of the intellectual history of "cueing." These are ideas and citations Christopher Peak and I spent years poring over to make Sold a Story. journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.31…
