Thanks Toronto Star for the space to dig into what a new CBC business strategy could look like. The corp offers little beyond how tragic cuts would be. The alternative to defunding is decentralizing not defensiveness How to save the CBC thestar.com/opinion/contri… via @torontostar

Thanks Tasha! Amazing to me how little public debate on the future of the CBC offers strategies for genuine reform. This essay proposes radical decentralization in response to defunding, and describes it. Two of three CBC employees currently work in Toronto or Montreal; ROC 1/3

Hard to imagine any Finance Minister doubling the P. appropriation for CBC. Also very uncertain that the abandoned ad money would go to Cdn media. Just as likely FB/Google grab it. How to save the CBC thestar.com/opinion/contri… via @torontostar

Canada invented the GATT and needs to do something similar among like-minded countries still dedicated to free trade. International Trade Diversification Minister Jim Carr was onto something in 2018 with his Ottawa Group thestar.com/opinion/star-c…

Let's stand up for the Ukrainian children abducted from their homes and families and exiled to Russia. In the background, a photo of my grandmother and kids who came to Canada from Ukraine in search of freedom from the Soviet state. Family is sacrosanct, Mr. Putin. #BringKidsBack

I had been thinking Habs would have to apply Game 1 lessons in Game 2. Happy to see them put their learnings to work in Period 3 instead. #LovetheseHabs

I once got to speak with Jean Beliveau about Game 2 in the famous '71 series vs Bruins. He said when they scored twice in the 2nd after being down 5-1, they knew in the dressing room the series was over. Felt that way on the 5th goal with Thompson lying on the ice. #Habs

So tired of political panelists making things up. Just heard an ex-staffer say "the department of finance has thousands of employees." According to official figures it has 900+. Can still argue against budget delay. But networks should hold panelists to 3 strikes-and-out standard

Saddened over Marc Garneau's death. He was in politics for all the right reasons. In the end , it would let him down but couldn't erase his decency, competence and accomplishments. I was fortunate to get to know Marc better when PPF honoured him and we did a podcast together RIP
