Wonderful to see the landmark studies on MRT. After two decades of basic research, public conversations, regulatory steps, government support, mitochondrial replacement is used successfully on multiple patients to prevent mitochondrial disease.

Very welcome news that the grant funding at Columbia, including my own R01 is back. But it comes at a huge cost. The 200M fine Columbia is paying undermines independence, and limits the freedom of constituents to push back on government on any issue, a concerning development.

1,019 glaciers have disappeared since 1973 in Switzerland! 🔥🧊 This represents >40% of the glaciers inventoried in 1973 and accounts for 13% (47±3 km²) of total glacier area loss! ✝️ But as it is based on the latest inventory (2016), the actual figures are far much higher! 📈
