2 years + since the EU Court of Justice ruling in W.M. & Sovim SA v Luxembourg Registers, the case for public access to beneficial ownership information remains the same. This Transparency International Ireland Report, published 9 Dec 2024, includes a chapter by me pointing to a company law solution.
As Chair of the Company Law Review Group, I was delighted to meet and present to Minister Niamh Smyth TD along with CLRG Committee Chairs Ian Drennan of Corporate Enforcement Authority, Prof Irene Lynch Fannon Professor Irene Lynch Fannon, Salvador Nash, with CLRG Secretary Paul Thompson and DETE's Helena Keleher.
The Law Society Ireland Council election takes place from Wednesday 1 October in which I will be seeking re-election. The photo below shows the magnificently refurbished members' lounge, reopened to members this month. Hoping that all solicitors use their vote.
