Both William Jewell College teams move on to NACE conference playoffs. Overwatch goes in at seed 6 and Smash Bros. goes in undefeated at seed 1!

The William Jewell College Overwatch team bows out of the playoffs at top 6 after losing to University of North Texas Dallas tonight. They’ve shown massive growth again this year and we’re looking forward to more in the Fall!

Mind boggling! I’ve been so lucky to recruit and have some just walk in to our facility then dedicate so much time and energy into building up a program, culture, team, and fellow players. The majority of them had no formal comp. gaming experience! Just belief and drive. Wild!

Mom of an incoming player said he had narrowed it down to us and 1 school. He visited William Jewell College first, met me and our players. On the ride home he said there was no need to go visit the other college. So proud of the culture my players have built in such a short time! 🥹

Anyone on here planning to go to NAECAD in St. Louis a couple weeks from now? Never been, but I’m curious who I might see.

I’ll bite. Like the concept. In year 10 of teaching HS & feeling I needed a change. Helped run an event at Ottawa U and met Sergio. Asked how he got into collegiate. Seemed like a good mix of my backgrounds. He said, “Just apply” and proceeded to give advice and encouragement.

Oooh! Gotta post a second one actually! Had been teaching in HS for a bit and 3 students I didn’t know walked into my class before school. They said, “We heard you used to be a competitive gamer. There’s a MO HS league called Missouri Scholastic Esports Federation, but we need a coach. Could you do it?” 🥳

Just got back from my first NAECAD in StL. Was super cool to meet a bunch of new people and see some old friends in the space. Was happy to represent William Jewell College there.

I put my name in for the student affairs committee. Hoping my 10 years as a HS teacher, serving on my district’s professional development committee, building lead for project based learning, drop out prevention committee, and leadership team can help push the space forward!
