"The attention that you give something, gives it value." - Sam Whitehead comments about #scicomm, and stepping up to engage in issues that have yet to break into the mainstream. So, what do you care about? And are you ready to talk about it? #EEID2022

Really neat work by Malina Loeher that looked at the virulence of Infectious hematopoietic necrosis virus in novel hosts, and in hosts IHNV has co-evolved with. Implications for emerging infectious diseases. Exciting to have a talk about patho evo in non-terrestrial hosts! #EEID2022

Host population heterogeneity is crucial for understanding disease transmission. Large snails can shield small ones from infection with schistosomes. #EEID2022 Kelsey Shaw

Great talk by Kelsey Shaw @ #EEID2022! Bigger snails more exposed but less susceptible to schistosome parasites In mixed populations, bigger snails absorb parasites w/o getting infected Implications for community processes like competition & predation that affect size dists!

I had a great time #EEID2022! Thank you #EEID2022 for the Social Justice ID Travel Scholarship! What better conference to attend before I travel to Madagascar to study zoonotic disease risk and susceptibility?!

I enjoyed participating in yesterday's #EEID2022 panel on scientific communication - what has worked, what hasn't, and what I've learned. For these types of panels, I have made a conscious decision to be very honest, including the good and the bad experiences. 1/
