Day 5: They’ve passed the 100km mark & have made camp for the night after a full and tiring ten hours of skiing. Bex shows gratitude to Toby who has taught them everything they need to know about completing a polar expedition & surviving in extreme cold. Thanks Toby!

Team deployed this pm side by side with Cairngorm MRT to first avalanche incident of the season near Ben Macdui. Human triggered but thankfully no one was discovered buried after extensive search of large site by both teams. Don’t think it won’t happen. sais coordinator

Just as the sun started dipping below the horizon a flash of light illuminated the distant Ben Lawers’ hills. Twenty seconds later it was gone.

Incredibly proud of the hard work Antarctic Fire Angels put in training to achieve their goal. Bex and George, and the team who prepared alongside them, are an inspiration. Congratulations all 🙌

Of Scotland’s six major rivers (Tay, Clyde, Tweed, Forth, Dee, and Spey), half of them can trace their headwaters to just one hill: Carn an Fhidhleir (Carn Ealar) in the Cairngorms NP. It also marks the historic boundary between Invernes-shire, Aberdeenshire, & Perthshire.
