The deeper problem than having insufficient engineers is the UK's fiscal background: the Treasury taxes electricity so much that the running cost of heat pumps is almost as high as that of burning (lightly taxed) gas. Engineers will re-train when it becomes worthwhile.

It would be unhealthy to blend pure hydrogen into the gas grid - it would increase NOx emissions and aggravate respiratory diseases.

The Government should not be wasting our £ on speculative research. If the oil companies believed in CCS they could fund it themselves. CCS is an expensive distraction dreamt up by oil companies to delay a genuine transition to clean energy.

A key role for Government is to set the right fiscal background for the transition to clean heating. It is currently doing the opposite - by imposing large levies and taxes on electricity, and low taxes on burning gas.

The government should NOT be using public money to subsidise the research of oil companies on improbable research. If the oil companies really believed in CCS they could afford to fund it for their own benefit.

There is a strong case for imposing green levies on gas. There is NO case for imposing green levies on electricity when we urgently need to electrify heat and electrify transport to combat climate change.

I'm not in favour of the Just Stop Oil disruptions. But the Gov does need to show it means to address the urgent climate change issues: It's time to stop taxing electricity. It's time to start taxing the use of oil and gas. Pls RT if you agree.

We also know that: Grant Shapps is the chief promoter of Just Stop Oil by failing to tackle climate change The Gov continues to tax electricity heavily which is preventing the transition to clean heating The low UK tax on gas and oil is encouraging further burning.

The headlong rush to burn more oil and gas is strangling sustainable life on earth and is driving millions of families into poverty and thousands of businesses to the verge of bankruptcy. With your support, we need to expose the disingenuous arguments of the GWPF.

Carbon Capture and Storage is a failed technology that should never be funded by Gov. The oil cos offer it as a plausible alternative to electrification: a deliberate distraction. If oil cos really believed in it they could fund it themselves.

The oil and gas industry is harming our economy and health by destabilising the climate by facilitating the emission of carbon on an unprecedented scale. It's time to just stop burning things. There are clear alternatives: let's use them!

We do *NOT* need the Recar trial - we already know that hydrogen for heating is uneconomic. We do *NOT* need a consultation on green levies - we already know these should have been lifted from electric bills years ago to allow the transition to clean heating. RT if you agree.

Cheaper heating would be available for the UK as a whole by using more heat pumps. However, it is currently NOT cheaper for individuals - due to the high levies on electricity!
