The fundamental flaw in differentiated instruction is the assumption that the way something is taught needs to vary by student. Maybe you should teach it in different ways to help more students understand? No, this probably will not work. 🧵

New teachers often try covering a new standard each lesson and moving on. This isn’t how the mind acquires information best. Students need spaced repetition and progressive deepening. This requires a “track design” in which old topics are brought back and recombined with the new.

The share of Americans employed by the government steeply dropped in the decades leading up to 2000, and has remained essentially flat since. A bloating federal workforce is a myth.

The AI situation has hit a crisis point at the university where I teach. Students are calling each other out on it in class discussions. They don't want to respond to peer's AI generated work. Guess what's being proposed by the students? Spoken and handwritten assignments.

This is Dianne and her daughter Emma, who has a rare disease that has been treated thanks to NIH-funded research in NY. They're here sharing her story and showing why NIH funding is so lifesaving. And I will stand with them to fight any Republican efforts to slash NIH funding.

I'm working on a new assignment for a polymer chemistry course that challenges students to find examples of scientifically incorrect statements made by AI. Might be too easy though? #chemistry #polymers #education #AI
