Trump leads among voters who say inflation is a major factor and those who don't think they're better off financially since the pandemic.

There are 58 days to go to Election Day, 120 days to Electoral College certification day on Jan. 6, and 134 to Inauguration Day on Jan. 20.

A simple version of story going into first debate: Harris is doing better than Biden was, via Dem enthusiasm, which essentially evened things. Trump has steady base + macro factors like inflation + voter memory of pre-covid times underpinning. Net = tight race.
