"Houses of the Holy". During the sessions, we experimented with recording outside on the lawn to try to get a completely neutral acoustic environment devoid of any reverberations. On "Black Country Woman," we tracked Jimmy & John Paul Jones playing acoustic guitar... (2/3)

You can hear birds tweeting in the background if you listen carefully… This photo of Jimmy and Robert rehearsing the song was typical of the band's adventurous spirit. (3/3)

Don't let this great day go by without checking out NPR's beautifully produced show about Electric Lady Studios' 50th anniversary!! I'm still blown away by the number of talented artists who have chosen The Lady to record their hit albums. npr.org/2020/08/26/906…

Jimi told me he wanted "round windows, man," which are still sitting there to this day in some of the control rooms. Most studios in those days (late 60s, early 70s) were uninspired boxes with fluorescent lights, & no vibe! Electric Lady was the complete antithesis of that (3/7)

It had the most amazing theatrical lighting system that could "paint" the walls of the studio in a rainbow of colors. Whatever mood #Jimi wanted, we could create that for him. (4/7)

Jimi was so happy to have his own studio that he would show up early for his sessions, and if I were running late with the previous session, he'd stand in the back of the control room to just observe (sometimes people would get a hell of a shock)! (5/7)

After #Jimi passed, when I got back in the studio, artists still wanted to come and record at Electric Lady—not just because it was Jimi's studio, but because it had that unique vibe and still does to this day! (7/7)
