I’ve spent years tracking how states & militias weaponize narrative. And I say this carefully: storytelling isn’t secondary to strategy. It's strategy. Scrambling to bring back VOA’s Farsi staff shows how much of our strategic edge we willingly gave up. cnn.com/2025/06/13/med…

In some countries, like the UK, there’s a tradition of letting the party of any lawmaker killed in an act of political violence run unopposed in the by-election. It lets people know violence cannot change the balance of power. It would be good for the US to do this.

I didn't know how many times I said this but DC think tanks and professors ordered to spill ink debating a new model of capitalism. There is no effective thing as private enterprise in China

This isn’t a good shot at “economists”. Mainstream economists who warned against Milei warned against stupid ideas he didn’t implement (forcing dollarization with negative reserves, closing the central bank). They were long calling on Argentina to do the reforms he did implement.

I've criticized the bad eggs in LA, so only fair to acknowledge how remarkable this is: It seems like millions of "No Kings" protests took place in thousands of U.S. towns yesterday with zero incidents of property damage or violence. Genuinely heartening and impressive.

The community note on this one is...interesting. It's technically true, yet when you compare the actual statement, the misquote is a fairly logical conclusion from the full statement's argument that the Courts were wrong. Fact checkers often stumble there. snopes.com/fact-check/lea…

Environmentalists in New York came out against the transmission line to connect the city to Quebec’s grid because they considered hydroelectricity “blood energy” and claimed supporting the project was tantamount to “genocide” due to the fraught 20th century history of dam

If a Democratic senator falsely blamed Republicans for a political assassination, the day after it happened, they’d be expelled on the spot. Mike Lee did exactly that. Will a single Republican even have the decency to call out his depravity?

Yes it’s a fair assessment but I’m a bit unorthodox, I think that when you hit the military and political command, you’ve done 99% of the work. So I think they’re paralyzed.

Just received this encouraging update from Senator Hoffman's wife, Yvette, on their recovery in the hospital. Grateful for their progress and will continue to keep them in our prayers.

Unspeakable. Just learned from Rep. Erin Koegel that Speaker Hortman’s kids had to put down Melissa’s beloved dog, Gilbert — after Vance Boelter shot the dog while assassinating Melissa and Mark. The cruelty knows no bounds. My heart aches.

In other news, there's an academic report about progress in tantalum recycling. Tantalum's street price is something like $170/kg...as a preservationist I have to admit I have a minor reservation about this, but recycling more stuff is much preferable to just dumping.

BREAKING — Multiple sources tell ABC News that Vance Boelter has been arrested near his farm in Green Isle, MN. He was spotted on a trail — via camera — a couple of hours ago and then taken into custody, sources said. Reporting w/ Mike Levine Luke Barr Pierre Thomas
