Very concerned by the Israeli strikes on Damascus today. Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity need to be respected. I call on all parties to refrain from violence and to de-escalate.

It’s looking increasingly likely that Israel’s next election will be in early 2026 (instead of in October) and Netanyahu is already in election mode, trying to play down his government’s failures on October 7 and in the Gaza war and bigging up the wars against Hizbullah and Iran.
