Lawson very frustrated after that race as he ended up ninth having held eighth for much of it. He had a spell mid-race when he was threatening Gasly but then Perez closed and passed. Gasly one of the stars of the sprint - couldn't have done better than P7 in the Alpine

Despite the car changes, that was a terrible race for Aston Martin. Zhou passed both the Aston Martins to finish 17th and 'win' the pit-lane starters class. Uncharacteristically, Alonso was very easy to pass at Turn 9 shortly before the VSC

🚨 Max Verstappen has been handed a five-second penalty for a VSC infringement during the #BrazilGP sprint. He drops down to P4 behind Leclerc, who is promoted onto the podium.

Heavy rain right now at Interlagos, which always tests the watertightness of the media centre. The power is still on though, which is not always assured in such conditions based on previous Brazilian GP experience

Kept an eye on Stroll in the first part of Q1 before the red flag. He put in a lap to go sixth just before the stoppage. He's been given some feedback about the pace to be gained from taking a wider line in Turn 6 to make the most of the grip there

Continued monitoring Stroll for the second part of Q1. He had a couple of push laps but didn't improve on his pre-red flag time. He could have done on the last lap but struggled for grip in the middle sector, even taking into account the conditions. Safely through to Q2 through

Albon locked up and had an off at Turn 1 before the red flag. Continued after cutting across the runoff but he has flatspotted at least the front-left. The team has told him they can take a new set of inters if necessary. "Tricky" was his verdict on impact of the flatspots

Not surprised to see another car in the wall at Turn 3. A lot of drivers were having moments there and it was bound to catch someone out. Stroll was the one it bit in the end

This is the first time ever that both Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen have failed to reach Q3 when both drivers have participated in a Grand Prix weekend #BrazilGP #BrazilianGP #SaoPauloGP

A great example there of how fortunes can turn round with different circumstances. Tsunoda and Ocon fell in SQ1 on Friday, but in today's wet qualifying they've both made the second row

Furious work going on down at Williams on Colapinto’s side of the garage. On Albon’s side, all quiet with gearbox not yet attached to car. Barring a minor miracle I’d suggest the driver was correct in his analysis that he would not be racing today.

Albon had trouble with the brakes throughout qualifying, with radio chatter trying to chase the problem. When he crashed, his first reaction was it was because of a braking issue, although the team didn't immediately see anything in the data. The investigation continues...

We take a deep dive into the upcoming F1 movie on The Race F1 Podcast. Appropriately enough, recently caught the trailer in the cinema and couldn't miss the chance to capture Guenther Steiner peering down at me from the big screen the-race.com/formula-1/podc…

I heard you Yuki. And asked Christian Horner... "Speed-wise, we can see he’s fast. He’s experienced now, he’s making less mistakes. "Everything is taken into account in any driver decision. We’ll weigh it all up after the season. "The priority is to understand what the path
