🚨 Outrageous: ICE has arrested the first under-18 in NYC under Trump-era raids. A 6-year-old public school student & her mother deported just weeks before school starts. This is Family Separation 2.0—a shameful stain on our nation. We must end policies that tear families apart.

Who should we hold accountable? Not just the apps fighting safety reforms—but the elected officials who take their money and stay silent. thecity.nyc/2025/08/25/del…

🚨Children as young as FOUR are being forced to face immigration court alone in New York City. That isn’t justice — it’s misdirection. New Yorkers protect kids. We welcome immigrants. We fight for working people.

The Right is coming for legal immigration next—and Democrats have no plan to fight back. Immigrant communities can’t be left defenseless. The stakes are too high. We need courage and a long-term strategy to resist these attacks.

Firing people, especially comedians, for airing their opinions is meant to scare everyday people from speaking out. It’s a page from the authoritarian playbook, and it’s a scare tactic we must resist.

I fled persecution for speaking my truth. Now in America, I fight so freedom of speech isn’t silenced here too. Our voices matter. Speak up. Be louder.

Change doesn’t come from one politician it comes from the systems we build and the empathy we lead with. I told The Spectator my hope for a new mayoral administration one that centers immigrants, asylum seekers & displaced people in city policy. columbiaspectator.com/city-news/2025…

C’est la vie. At 6:47 p.m., I arrived at the poll site and a young man with a press badge said, “Oh, you’re Edafe?” Then asked, “Can I take your portrait?” “I’ll make sure you get a pic on your Wikipedia page tonight,” he said. What a way to close this chapter.

The new administration is ready to lead. Now we must come together to support both the transition and governance—proving that progressive leadership delivers.

Refuge America was born from lived experience — a reminder that safety and belonging should never be privileges. We stand with LGBTQ people seeking safety across the U.S. as they rebuild, find community, and share their stories of resilience and hope. refugeamerica.org

This Thanksgiving, I’m giving thanks for the people and places that create safety for LGBTQ+ asylum seekers. Asylum Pride House in Philly is one of them. Their work changes lives. Read the story: A New Beginning in Philadelphia refugeamerica.org/blog/a-new-beg…

Jim, when I met you, I had so much respect for you and the fact that you were running on a platform of integrity. But recently, you have been pulled into the low of lows, and it’s distasteful. If you don’t have something meaningful to say, say nothing.

“Safety isn’t automatic. Baldwin asked, ‘Where would a fleeing black man go?’ Even as a naturalized U.S. citizen, I feel fear and the current administration’s scapegoating of Black people makes it worse for all immigrants.”

This year has been heavy for so many families across our city. As we close it out, I’m holding the New York we all love close to my chest. Our city can be better, fairer, and more welcoming. In 2026, we keep fighting for all of us and especially for our immigrant communities.
