Malachi starts to address Jerusalem’s theological, practical and social issues by reminding them that God loves them. Forgetting God’s love is the source of all our problems.

So often my discipleship approach begins and ends with do this, fix this, stop that. Malachi sits down opposite us at chick-fil- and asks, ‘do you know God loves you?’

You’re not really home until you’ve brewed your first pot of coffee.

‘But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness shall rise with healing in its wings. You shall go out leaping like calves from the stall.’ Malachi 4:2

The local church is the dearest place on Earth

‘And Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.”’ Luke 1:38 I’d save myself so much trouble if I had this spirit.

If you don’t tremble in God’s presence you’ll never rejoice in God’s presence.

Or Ecclesiastes 11:4 for that matter.

‘Deal bountifully with your servant, that I may live and keep your word.’ Psalm 119:17 True life is only found in relationship with Jesus who is life.

What I love about Psalm 119 is the determination to grow closer to God existing with complete dependence on God for that growth.

It’s easy to focus on the hard stuff in ministry, but today one of our church folks had a complicated procedure following a year of very poor health. We’ve been praying for two specific things to happen in the surgery and they both did! Praise the Lord!

You may never lead perfectly but you can always lead prayerfully.

Mark 1:11 sustains reality: ‘And a voice came from heaven, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.”’

Considering pouring the coffee in my eyes so the caffeine gets in my blood steam quicker.

We might be relatives and we’d definitely be friends.
