It's #MonitoringMonday & our newest teammate Alana’s 1st field day! This AM, the #SpeirSquad went to Brush Creek sample the watershed. Many sites were already dry! Intermittent streams play a big role in downstream water quality, so we're excited to continue collecting data!

#WhyWaterWednesday Alana grew up in FL, where she learned how to swim, fish, & wakeboard on the St. Lucie River, which now experiences toxic #algalblooms. Watching this ecosystem destruction motivated her to do #appliedresearch to protect waterways across the USA. UA System Div of Ag

The #SpeirSquad knows how to ring in the new water year! We had a potluck celebration to kick off the 2024 water year ft. pasta, cowboy caviar, guac, pies, cobbler, brownies, etc. The new water year also marks the start of #QuEST sampling & Caroline's urban stream project!

Great review paper on C-Q relationships! This is one of those rare gems -- its both a great synthesis of contemporary literature AND its instructive for folks new to the technique. Big thanks Shannon Speir, PhD, Dr. Arial Shogren, Michelle Wolford, and coauthors!
