Nvidia is worth more than the entire German stock market. Mississippi’s per‑capita income is nearly Germany’s. @TylerCowen explains why European living standards have fallen so far behind Americans’.

It was baad today in Univ Econ 2000. The wage is $12/hour. A worker produces 6 units per hour. What is the labor cost per unit? Student answers: 1, .5, 6, 12. The correct answer is $2 per unit. Lesson was on why the Law of Diminishing Returns makes a cost curve slope upward.

I have some good news and some bad news. The bad news is in 1913 the US Federal income tax was signed into law by President Woodrow Wilson. The good news is he said not to worry too much it's just temporary.

Jim has this strange idea that the Church would never—ever—make a mistake when hiring someone in a marketing role —but just might make serious errors when issuing proclamations on basic doctrine signed by the First Presidency and the Twelve and cited repeatedly for 30 years

The coat maker gets rich from cold. The doctor gets rich from disease. The roofer gets rich from storms. The road crew gets rich from potholes. The world would be a better place with more disease, potholes, cold, and storms because all will be rich. mises.org/mises-daily/ob…

Since Postliberals have already decided that mainstream economics is wrong and/or evil, tainted by "greed," and offensive to their own aesthetic sensibilities, it makes them extremely credulous to nutjobs and grifters peddling "alternative" economic philosophies.

It won't bring them back. For one thing, furniture manufacture is much more automated than in the 1980s. And if someone opens an American factory it will be even more automated. Few jobs would be created--mostly be babysit machines. Might take 5 years to set up a factory.

Intel has been losing money and shedding employees. Now the US will hand Intel money to keep them from getting smaller, though the market is telling Intel to get smaller. And as other companies outperform Intel, the US govt has an incentive to cripple them to save its baby.

I say this ever time this comes up: Please ask us this This is our favorite thing to talk about There are whole businesses that have successfully monetized white people's desire to know where their ancestors came from
