I've been reflecting a lot on appropriate expectations recently. I like these from Singapore for children aged 6-7, so by the end of our year 1 / start of year 2.

“So it's finally happened. As the last qualified teacher in a Nursery in our MAT, I'm being replaced by someone with a Level 3 in childcare from September. Obviously our poor little 3/4 year olds with very high levels of need in a deprived area don't need a teacher I am gutted”

I hope all the “free childcare” advocates know what’s coming. A level 3 in ‘childcare’ does not make a pedagogue. And now someone with this same level 3 and 6 months experience will be able to decide to count someone unqualified as qualified. #childrensrights Early Education and Childcare Coalition
