On June 8th, I had the honour of hosting a high-level breakfast meeting with childcare organizations and early childhood stakeholders, in partnership with ECD Network for Kenya . Together, we explored how to build stronger, safer systems for our youngest citizens.

The forum brought together key actors from national government, civil society & development partners to reflect on the state of Early Childhood Care & Development (ECCD) in Kenya. Expert presentations revealed urgent gaps—and bold opportunities for reform.

I reaffirmed the government's commitment to child protection through inclusive, coordinated & well-resourced childcare systems. Special focus was placed on children with disabilities and those with special needs.

We also proposed the formation of a technical working group to review current policies and assess their effectiveness in addressing childcare challenges. This is more than a meeting—it’s the start of collective action.
