Last monday, one of the smallest 🦇, and today one of the largest! 🐽
The greater horseshoe bat (Rhinolophus ferrumequinum), impossible to misidentify both visually or by its characteristic 80khz CF #echolocation calls!

Monday bat! The whiskered bat (Myotis mystacinus) is relatively common in Europe, but more scarce in the southern parts of its distribution! 🤔
In #Catalonia this species is only found in Pyrenean forests, usually near water bodies and riparian areas!

Another bat, this time a #migratory species, the lesser noctule or Leisler's bat (Nyctalus leisleri)! 🦇
The smallest #noctule species, in Catalonia is abundant in pine forests, and can be easily monitored when it forms its mating harems in bat boxes!

Thrilled to read about the all female keynote speakers at EBRS2024. Orly Razgour, Dina Dechmann ⭐️, Vanessa Mata and Dr Winifred F Frick. There are so many things we can learn from these excellent scientists. Let's celebrate them and bats in #Tarragona ->
