Today we went on a great walk in the village to look at all the houses & to compare them to the houses in the story of The Three Little Pigs. The children were great at spotting lots of different types of bricks & even spotted some of the sounds we have been learning in Phonics!

It's been a brilliant first week back at school. We had a fantastic Wow day on Wednesday to kickstart our new Transport topic. The children designed and then made their own boats as well as conducting a traffic survey outside the school. Well done, everyone!

The reception children took part in their very first PE lesson today. They were very good at getting changed, learning how to fold up their clothes in a neat pile before we went outside to work on the ball skill of dribbling. Well done, Respectful Raccoons!

Today we were sorting objects in maths by colour, size and type. It was great to see the children working so well together and finding lots of ways to sort. They were brilliant at using their sorting skills to then put away all the objects that I had got out!

Today we've been learning about the past, present and future in History. The children talked about the differences between cars in the past and present and then they had some great ideas for what they might look like in the future. 🚗

This week we have started reading our first novel of the year. The children are really enjoying the adventures of Rocco in 'The Rascally Raccoon' by Amelia Cobb. We think he is going to be a bit mischievous! #readingforpleasure

Today we were looking at pictures of Penny Farthings, talking about the different features they could see and the differences between the size of the wheels. In Forest School, the children then used natural resources to create their own Penny Farthing bikes!

This week we’ve been ready the wonderful story ‘Tatty Ratty’ by Helen Cooper. Today the children responded in provision to depict their favourite scene from the story. We can’t wait to plan and write our own Tatty Ratty adventures next week 😊

The Reception had a fabulous time in Forest School this afternoon. They toasted marshmallows and made s’mores! 🔥They all sensibly listened to the instructions and were very careful around the fire circle. Thank you to our fabulous Mrs Scholfield for a great session 🔥😍🔥
