UPDATE: Yesterday management at Kettering reversed their controversial decision to cut rates for doctors in response to 100 doctors cancelling their shifts. This was only possible due to the unity of grassroots doctors. 1/2

After months of unprecedented industrial action and campaigning, months of negotiations, and weeks of voting by BMA members, today we can announce that the latest Government offer on pay and DDRB reform for consultants in England has been accepted. bma.org.uk/consultantspay

83% (62% turnout) of eligible consultant members voted in favour of the offer and the BMA’s consultants committee has now formally accepted it.

Pay increases will be applied in coming months but backdated to March. We will be watching closely for this year’s award from the pay review body (DDRB). We’re committed to fixing pay now and for the future. bma.org.uk/consultantspay
