Watching storms on both sides. First one is near Littlefield, TX. Behind us is a storm cluster near Muleshoe, TX. Both are high based but with periodic wall clouds. #txwx

Muleshoe Storm teased us with lowerings and a high based funnel, but never closed ranks. We are retreating back to Amherst in search of more interesting views. Looking NE from 10 W of Amherst at 2025 UTC. Please ignore the pit in my camera lens at the tip of the funnel. #txwx

This is what the storm approaching Witharral, TX looks like from Levelland, looking N. The OFB has clearly surged way out ahead of the updraft. #txwx

We took a day off chasing to visit West Texas Mesonet and Texas Tech University National Wind Institute. The tour was led by #SPOTTR and Purdue EAPS alum Matthew Asel! Thanks to him, Natalie Trout & Eric Bruning for the informative tour on short notice! We saw Sticknets, radars, debris cannon & more!

The day ended with some spectacular sunset-lit mammatus and hail shafts near Seminole, TX. This type of sight is what we came all the way out here for. #txwx

Purdue EAPS SPOTTR Trip 2024! Here’s some of my favorite pictures. We visited 8 states in 7 days and saw 5 high-based funnels, huge hail, and sat directly under a mesocyclone! Got some amazing structure pictures and visited Texas Tech, the TWISTEX memorial, and the Twister museum!

"I realized it was very likely the #tornado was killing people while I was collecting data," says Prof. Robin Tanamachi, of Purdue EAPS. BBC reports on tornadoes formation remaining one of nature's biggest mysteries. #weather @tornatrix Purdue Science bbc.in/4dlnmcH
