A PhD milestone today! That’s 330 seawater #eDNA samples extracted! Many many lab hours later, I’m now ready for more lab work to prepare these little guys for sequencing 🫠

it's an incredibly sad day today for all of us here and across the marine mammal community worldwide as we say farewell to our beloved Simon Northridge who died suddenly on the 17th April. Simon leaves an amazing legacy of a career dedicated to the conservation of marine mammals

Fellow lab-mate Morgan McCarthy & team published a super comprehensive study, proposing the revision of transient and resident #killerwhale ecotypes into separate species, both from each other and from the (for now) current species!

'Now it's time for us to hold up our hands and admit that we've been part of the problem for too long'. So honest Coillte had it scrubbed from The Irish Times website 🙈

Awesome to see the east coast of the UK designated as an Important Marine Mammal Area ( #IMMA ) 🐋🦭🐳 What's extra special is much of this area was highlighted as important through citizen science or social media sightings groups! Power to the people! 💪🏽
