eWasps are now affecting residents, BBQs, cafes, and pets due to the size of nests, an average of 4,000 wasps. Drones & next gen. queens are being brood up for next season, therefore, more protein is required to feed the larvae. See link ewasp.com.au/precautions-ag… #europeanwasps

European wasp queens hibernating! This is the time to start preparing for the next wasp season by sealing cracks & crevices around doors and window frames to prevent the next generation queens from establishing nests in wall cavities. #Europeanwasps Image by eWasp

eWasp nests can survive the winter if the conditions are right. Parkes, ACT on 7/6/24. Workers & next generation queens were present in the nest. It’s interesting to see next generation queens hibernating in their founding nest. To report a nest, download the eWasp app.

With spring just around the corner, eWasp spring queens will emerge from hibernation to establish nests. With wall cavities being a preferred nesting site, this is the time to seal cracks and crevices around doors and window frames. See ewasp.com.au for more info.

With spring upon us, communities will put out their eWasp spring queen traps, ensure you only use registered lures or DIY recipes that have no or very little impact on native species. We are asking the public to report all spring queens and nests to the eWasp Team. #eWasp
