This year’s Masters had a strange twist: everybody left happy.

Everyone except the winner, that is.

Scottie Scheffler is a deeply satisfying Masters champ. The best golfer in the world was very clearly the best golfer in golf's biggest event. Whatever the opposite of a fluke is, that's what this felt like. Wow.

Wild Max Homa stat: Between the PGA Tour, DP World Tour and Korn Ferry Tour, Homa has 12 top-3 finishes. 9 of those are wins. He’s finished 2nd just once.

No guarantee he wins today. (Scottie is good!) But the guy’s a closer. Excited to watch him under golf's biggest pressure.

From Waffle House to winning low amateur honors AND a Sunday pairing with Tiger Woods at Augusta. Neal Shipley is having a dream week at the Masters.

Max Homa on being in contention Masters Sunday:

'I came here with the gratitude and appreciation that I get to do it. I'm happy I get to do it tomorrow. I'm going to remind myself I'm a dog and I'm ready for this moment.'

Bryson on his hole-out finish:

'Sixteen, 3-putt. Seventeen, almost 3-putt. Eighteen, hole. I just figured it was easier than putting.'

So impressed with Xander Schauffele's round. 16 pars, 2 birdies. Relentless. 72-72-70. He's very quietly in this golf tournament.

'I just kept telling myself, if you start to get aggressive around the property you can pick up some shots going the wrong direction.

'All in all,

Augusta National has just played perfectly this week. Brutally hard and pars feel well-earned but plenty of birdies, too. Every approach shot looks so demanding. Flushers rising to the top of the board.

Tiger Woods says he'll be back for Sunday's final round.

'My team will get me ready. It will be a long night and a long warmup session, but we'll be ready.'

Scottie Scheffler leads the PGA Tour in birdies per round. (5.48 birdies or better per round)

He also leads the PGA Tour in bogey avoidance. (Just 8.24% of holes)

So he makes the most birdies and the fewest bogeys. Seems like a good combo

Danny Willett might be the least likely contender at this Masters.

Hasn't played a tournament in 7 months. Hasn't finished top 50 anywhere in over a year. Isn't planning to return to pro golf for another couple months, when he'll be recovered from shoulder surgery. He's T8.
