Ahead of leaving Edmonton this morning, it was great to meet for breakfast a former grad student who has gone on to challenging work and is going on to challenging further studies. Also good to hear of him by chance running into another former student and RA at a pub last night.

I was lucky to pop into Elk Island National Park, Parks Canada on the way to Edmonton on Fri, when I saw both bison and bears. I popped in today on the way home on a weekend and saw good scenery, but the only animals I saw were crowds of humans. But glad people are enjoying the park. Bison from Friday:
