While driving to Edmonton today for my conference here, went for half an hour into Elk Island National Park, Parks Canada (which is along the highway) and saw not only bison but also a mama bear and baby bear





I was lucky to pop into Elk Island National Park, Parks Canada on the way to Edmonton on Fri, when I saw both bison and bears. I popped in today on the way home on a weekend and saw good scenery, but the only animals I saw were crowds of humans. But glad people are enjoying the park. Bison from Friday:



Found today in the U of Saskatchewan library discard pile. Honestly, bad enough they're not keeping these gems - they have to desecrate the title pages too.


The day after I heard a marvellous speech by Usask President on the value of the humanities, shocked to be finding in the U of Saskatchewan University Library discard pile multiple volumes of a Cambridge history of the world (amongst other finds) - I don’t understand the discarding going on
