The talk today is about the Ravens game. Some are blaming Jackson, some are blaming Andrew’s. I see it this way, the big stage is about key moments, my opinion. As we prepare, we must prepare for those moments. That’s the cool part about what we do. Prepare for the big stage 🙏🏾

I heard this the other day. The reward is not what we get, it’s what we put into it. What we put into it, the reward will reveal itself. The question is, what are we willing to put into it? Without the work, there is no reward. The reward is proof that we are doing it right 🙏🏾

What’s the difference between preachers and teachers? Preachers are usually very smart people, big picture. Teachers can take the big picture and break it down into parts. Teachers are usually advocates of the technique part of the game, important. Preach, Teach, Develop 🙏🏾

I was talking to some of our DB’s the other day. I read this awhile back. What’s the difference between hard workers and competitors? Hard workers will put in the work, competitors won’t stop at the work. I hope you know, there is a difference between the two 🙏🏾

I was in a deep thought today, what is true development? I think development is centered around technique by position. What does that mean? Whatever scheme you play, a technique should be tied to it. When techniques are mastered, schemes become complete. The next level 🙏🏾

When i was a DC at UCLA, i had the privilege to have a sit down with legendary UCLA hoop coach John Wooden. He was a detailed coach with vision. One thing still stands out, his pureness. He told me, stand up for what’s right, don’t cut corners. Be pure folks in your journey 🙏🏾

We are associated in a production based profession. Check this out. 1. Accountability builds focus 2. Focus builds discipline 3. Discipline builds consistency 4. Consistency builds production 5. Production builds value 6. Value breeds success We are blessed to compete 🙏🏾

Relationships and instructions must coexist. In our profession we have preachers and teachers. Teachers find ways to establish relationships, fight the fight with the players. Preachers may sound good, no substance in their sermons. Substance and connection matters. Stay true!

Congrats to Jayden Harrington. Covid year (2020), i trained HS players. He was probably one of the most dedicated out of the bunch. Central Oklahoma is getting a real one. Proud of you my man, keep grinding. Keep chasing your dream until God says something else 🙏🏾. Good luck!!

I just watched “The Quincy Avery Effect” on Hulu. What a great story!! Every young man should watch this. His story shows great resilience and love of the game. His dad and i go way back (Wendell Avery). Keep up the good work Quincy, very inspiring 🙏🏾

Culture and chemistry is a must. Constant communication about standards and unselfishness will shape your culture, and your chemistry in your rooms. When your culture is right, and your chemistry is right, your family will be right. Culture, Chemistry, Family, it’s beautiful 🙏🏾

I was just talking to a friend of mine who coaches DB’s in the NFL. Great conversation on why the technical part of playing DB is so important. Without this knowledge, scheme will take you so far. Scheme coaches may build the house, technique coaches will solidify the house 🙏🏾

I am on a football trip, what a great experience. For coaches and players, i have noticed this, compete. Great talent, great minds, work ethic is everywhere. What you won’t do, others will. Everyday is an interview. Make sure you are preparing for your interview the right way.

It’s great to see ex players mature off the field as well as on the field. Christian Roland Wallace of the KC Chiefs texted me this today, “Be committed to the process without being emotionally attached to the result.” This is profound in life and football. Just grind!!

Had a great time in Japan sharing American football knowledge. I really appreciate the hospitality, great people. I was very impressed where they are, and where they are going. Keep striving 🙏🏾
